I bought the product thinking the strap was interesting, and it has been. The concept is real good, but the fit can be different for different people. I found it hit me in a strange way on my little toe, nothing too bad, but obviously just not the same as a traditional flip. I did get used to it, and now feel this is a solid flip, and I give END kudos for thinking outside the box. i would say if you are curious, give them a go.....

Best shoe that I ever owned! I bought this shoe at the start of my 2-year stay in Africa. It is the best all around shoe I ever owned. Perfect for hiking, and it maintains a good grip on any surface. Dries quickly, too. Good breathability and extremely lightweight.

The END Stumptown 12 oz is a very functional and versatile shoe that can be used both for trail walking and road walking. It is free of so many bells and whistles that other shoes have, and as such allows the foot to function as it should. An additional bonus of this shoe is the fact that although it only comes in a D width, it is more than wide enough to accommodate my EE width feet - a feature not found on any other D width shoes that I have tried. And the END Stumptown has become my go-to shoe in all types of weather.

I bought these sneakers for work just because they matched my uniform. Immediately upon putting them on I went for a walk on a trail. I could not believe that they did not rub or pinch or hurt anywhere. I've been wearing them daily at work for weeks now and the best way I can describe how comfortable they are is they feel like I'm wearing socks with shocks in them! I am pleasantly surprised!

The most comfortable running shoes I've ever worn. Fit perfect out of the box and offered excellent support (I'm a medium overpronator) during my first run. Infinitely superior to the more expensive Puma Cells I'd been wearing before.

Update on a previous review. As an update to my very positive review for these shoes, after running in them for about three months, I have encountered a problem that is causing me to start shopping for a new pair of running shoes. The problem is that the removable insole has started slipping as soon as I start to run or walk in the shoes. The first time this happened, the insole was several inches up in the heel of the shoe, and my toes could feel that very flat area that now had no insole. This has now become a problem every time I wear the shoes, whether to run or walk. I may try getting another type of insole for the shoe and see if that will help. I continue to love the comfort of the shoe, but cannot run in them with the insole creeping up the back of my heel!

I bought these shoes after seeing a short review in a magazine. I also liked the idea that they used extensive recycled content. I broke them in during a few short walks, and then took them to Hawaii last week to do some day hikes. They really did not stand up well. In fact, they fell apart. The insoles are so lightweight that half way into the first hike, the insoles rotated off the sole and onto the side of my foot. They offer little lateral support and they are coming apart at one seam. A jogging shoe would have held up better. Save your money and buy a proven hiker from Keen or Merrell.

I love these shoes. Got the 12oz for me and my husband and we are thrilled. Good for walking, running, light hiking. Quick drying, too. They are generously sized for exercise shoes. There's no need to order ½ size larger. Just wish more people knew Eco-friendly shoes existed.

Awesome shoe right out of the box! Zappos is the best company I have ever dealt with! My 1st order wasn't right and they outdid themselves by making it more than alright! I ended up getting these shoes & they fit & feel great right out of the box! I have the hardest time finding vegan or eco-friendly shoes & totally surprised of how much I already love these shoes, after only wearing for like a hour! I highly recommend these shoes! (And Zappos!)

These are absolutely, positively, the best running shoes I've ever put on my feet. I get angry when I have to take them off and put on my work shoes. I will be ordering another pair exclusively for work as soon as I get the money. As a side note, stop supporting sweat shop companies and the abuse of animals. Stop supporting the abuse of old mother earth and set your feet free! Once again, Zappos was dead on with service and updated my postage. All companies should take a good hard look at how these people operate.

These shoes are SO comfortable! I wasn\'t sure if they would provide the support I needed for running, but decided that I would keep them no matter what as soon as I put them on. They truly fit like a glove and are so light weight. And so far, they have worked out great for running as well. I am 48 years old and have been running for 30+ years, so I am choosy about running shoes and my knees and hips generally let me know pretty quickly if the shoes are not going to work out. These shoes have been great, causing me no problems whatsoever. They keep my feet cool with the mesh top, and really conform to the shape of my foot. I wear a 7.5 in a street shoe, and went up a size to an 8.5 in these, which is what I typically do for a running shoe. I run around 15 miles per week (4-5 miles at a time). I previously was wearing a Mizuno Nirvana and have had less aches and pains with these.

Great minimalist, low profile, racing trail flat up to 10 miles. Upper is thin fabric that wraps midfoot very well. Midsole is very cushioned for a flat. Sole is not very aggressive so not extremely effective in mud, however flares . Hopefully this company stays around.

A simple, very lightweight, no frills running shoe. I agree with the other reviewer that these are not the easiest to put on, almost like putting on a sock, not a big deal though. There is a big thick slab of foam under the heel, which felt strange at first, probably due to my wearing super flat shoes most of the time. Regardless, I put between 10-15 miles on them every week and they’re doing just fine for me. Sometimes wish there was more padding under the tongue to cushion against the laces though.

I've had these shoes for about a month now and really like them. I'm always on the lookout for vegetarian sneakers, and it's nice that they're eco-friendly too. The green color scheme is really subtle and nice (I got at least a compliment a day when I first started wearing them). I'm usually an 8.5 or 9, and the 8 fits great, so I guess they run a little bit big.

The END Stumptown is a well-built, dematerialized trail runner with really great chassis engineering, thoughtful tread and toe box features, and durable and really appropriate materials choices in the upper. For all around trail running, it's a really solid shoe sure to keep up with other runners of its ilk. My chief complaint has been that the shoe is so dematerialized that it seems to have a slightly lower tolerance for odd foot shapes (who me?) than other shoes with more padding, especially in the heel. The result is that the shoe feels a bit squishy and big on aggressive downhills. Ultimately, this is by far the best "sustainable" trail runner that I've found to date. 4 stars for performance plus 6 stars for sustainability averages to a solid 5 star average. This won't be my only pair of ENDs.

Have had these shoes for about a month and love them. The minimalist design is super lightweight yet still supportive enough for me. The upper fits almost like a sock with the straps at the eyelets allowing a nice snug fit. The foot positioning is pretty neutral and I found plenty of room in the toe box which is sometimes a problem for me. Running off road in them is no problem. The fabric is great for shedding dirt and sand. I haven't gotten them wet yet. Bought them for trail running/hiking but wear them almost daily for everything. Great price for a minimalist yet solid shoe.

These amphibious sneakers handle wet surfaces well, do not become waterlogged, and dry out relatively quickly. They fit like lightweight running shoes and are as comfortable for jogging/workouts as my regular sneakers. My one issue - the first 5 or 10 times these get wet and dry out, some of the orange color of the inner liner bleeds through the gray outer mesh. I emailed the manufacturer about this issue but got no response. I tried soaking the shoes overnight in a bucket of water, which seemed to help.

There are great summer sneakers. They’re comfortable for all day, plus the open mesh "body" means they’re cool on a hot day. It’s like wearing a water shoe with a sneaker sole. I usually wear sandals during the summer because my feet get very hot, but I wanted something to run around and bike in, and these are perfect for everything I want to do.

Best hiker for wet conditions - I found this shoe while looking for water shoes, and it fit the bill perfectly. I took it to Hawaii on vacation and became an instant fan of END shoes. Super comfy, awesome grip wet or dry, great water drainage, and more styling than any hiking or running shoe I have owned (and I have a huge shoe collection). I usually wear skate shoes like Vans, but you need the right shoe for the job, and this is good for everything, especially adventure. Materials are comfy, tough and breathable. Don't hesitate, score this shoe and enjoy.

I'm really pleased with these flip flops. I'm a Birk/Chaco girl, but both have drawbacks on me for climbing trips and my camping trips. Birks aren't made for loose or rocky terrain, and the Chaco footbed irritates the soles of my feet sometimes. I decided to give these a try because I liked End's emphasis on sustainability and because they're a Pacific Northwest company, and I'm glad I did. These quickly went from around-the-house and at-the-climbing-gym to my go-to shoes for around camp, at the grocery store, on the trail, and even on some pretty technical trails (rocky, loose terrain) that I'd usually wear technical approach shoes for. I'm really loving these flip flops after wearing them hard for almost two months.

About END

END END Footwear is driven by passion, people and their never-ending journey.

Environmentally Neutral Design

An idea born from a passion towards change, the team at END footwear consists of a group of individuals dedicated to building new and innovative footwear with minimal consequences to the environment. By utilizing the four R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Responsibilty) to guide them on their path towards an environmentally neutral design, their goal is to have less of an environmental impact with each and every season. Currently, their manufacturing process yields only 1-5% waste, making their ecological footprint much smaller than many manufacturers.

At END they are focused on designing and creating high performing, sustainable footwear for every day athletes. Their philosophy of responsible, evolutionary design causes them to strive to do more with less. Born from a single mold, END footwear represents a revolutionary step in exercising this belief. Each of their styles rides on a platform that is custom tuned to the needs of the athlete and is used over and over again throughout the years instead of seasons. Why fix it if it was never broken? This allows END athletes to tackle their adventures without having to pay the price for using multiple steel molds. In addition, END has also removed the shank (a plastic piece normally placed in the arch of the shoe) in their shoes, taking a large step forward in sustainability. Because all plastic shanks are built from steel molds, companies create a different steel mold for every size, color and model of shoe. All of that steel and plastic production quickly turns into waste and is essentially harmful to people and the environment.

While being friendly to the environment is what drives END in their everyday endeavors as a company as well as individuals, they understand that athletes require high performance footwear. Comfort is key with END. Designed to work with the body’s muscle groups, their shoes are able to provide greater balance when running and less muscle fatigue. Their Full Sole™ design also allows energy to displace efficiently through medial to lateral motion, working naturally with the foot’s motions instead of against it. Combine these features with a wider forefoot and you’ve got a superb stride that is more stable and efficient.

With the concept of doing more with less fresh in mind, adding more to what already works isn’t always better. At END, they understand that there is an innovation arms race happening within the footwear industry where companies want to make people believe that more components and technology equal better runs and performance. Remaining dedicated to the philosophy that less is more, END footwear is determined to prove that lighter can be stronger, and that crisp, consistent designs can beat the next big thing any day of the week.

Always searching for new solutions to age-old problems, END believes that footwear will not fall apart if glues and cements were to fade into the yesterday of tomorrow. Their goal is to one day be able to offer 100% glue-less shoes through a responsible design, which will be beneficial to the environment and the workers who would have had to handle such harmful glues. With one eye on lessening their environmental impact and one eye on the trails of life, END realizes that together we are all the next wave of change.

Let’s get started.
