Walking on a cloud! After getting a painful foot disorder, I started hunting for a flip flop to wear everywhere, especially at home on my hard floors. My search has ended with these heavenly shoes. They fit my narrow feet and I love that you can heat them and mold them to your feet. They are soft, squishy, and mold perfectly, giving my feet all the support they need. Will be buying more of this brand. Oh, and my foot pain is actually going away!

These Hardrock 08s are great. I wish they would bring them back in both the men and women's lines. They are much more comfortable than the newer models. Better toe box and stability.

I've now owned two pairs of these boots. I have wide feet so I really like the wide width. These boots were comfortable from the first time I wore them. The sizing seems perfect for 10.5 size foot. I've never had a blister while wearing these boots. I do a lot of hiking in the slick rock of Utah and find that they have real good grip on the rocks.

I had an earlier version of these shoes for about 3 years. I loved them. Other then the plastic smell that was strong for about a year, I thought they were very good. My ankles are quite weak and I believe they support it. My friend talked me into replacing them with Salomon. I tried them for 2 months. They are good shoes, but not for my medium to narrow feet. I ended up twisting my ankle. So I went back to Montrail, and ordered this new version of it. I used them three time at the Soberanes Trail in California so far. They are comfortable, lightweight, and giving good support. My normal shoe size is 8 - 8.5, and 8.5 worked with these shoes, too. I have enough toe space for downhill running, too. I even have orthopedic arch support in them, and still comfortable. I highly recommend them.

Overall Rating: (4 stars)

Excellent shoes, especially for those with narrow feet. I wear a size 10.5, a hard to fit size to begin with, but on top of that, my feet are more pointed and narrow than most. This shoe fit great, and is highly adjustable. Couldn't believe how lightweight they were and yet still so supportive on concrete. I've been running on the road in these a few miles a week for a few months and they barely show wear on the tread. Also excellent arch support for feet like mine that have especially high arches. They are mesh, so they are incredibly breathable in the summertime, but not so good for cold weather. Also, the mesh allows dew to wet your socks quickly, but on the other hand they'll dry quickly, too. Only problem I encountered was one of the strings that the laces loop through broke towards the toe, slightly changing the shape of the toe box. Must have just been a fluke, though; that happened in the first week and nothing has broken since.

BUY THESE SHOES! These are the best pair of shoes I have ever bought. Instead of paying hundreds of dollars for custom insoles, these shoes come with them! It was the first time I walked around for a whole day and didn't have foot discomfort. They are also very versatile. I wore them around the mall and then later to a wedding.

A solid shoe. I have only gone about 12 miles on this shoe, but so far I am very pleased with the feel of the shoe as well as the traction of the shoe. I took them on a very rocky, leaf covered path and I did not have a single slip on some steep grades. Toe box felt good up until the last mile or two, but that might just be a break in issue.

Absolutely fabulous. I've been trail running for over 2 years. My normal trails are hilly/mountainy single track with lots of roots, rocks, and all the things that mountain bikers love. For most of that time I used the North Face Arnuva 100TR GTX. Great shoes themselves, but they would wear out and start falling apart pretty quickly. Then I got the Montrails. Wow. Super light, traction is outstanding, mud shedding is great, and rock shielding is excellent. I ran with them for several weeks before running the Vermont Ascutney 50K in Sept 09. The race was a rainy mud-fest. I ran it hard and fast. The shoes performed flawlessly. No blisters or foot damage of any sort. Tread still looks brand new and the rock shielding seems not to have degraded at all. Couldn't have asked for better.

Soles came off after 8 miles - Bought them for my hiking trip to Swiss Alps. Have to say they were quite comfortable, good support. However, the soles came off after about 8-10 miles, right in the beginning of my 100-mile trip. Not the quality one would expect from "heavy-duty backpacking shoes".

This is a very comfortable sandal. It is true to size, however, the instep is a little high. I don't think that heat molding it to your foot has that much of an impact on the overall fit. I am trying to get used to the squeaking noise they make when walking on hardwood floors. I definitely cannot sneak up on anyone. They are not very stylish and definitely a beach sandal.

This would be the third pair of Montrail GTX Torre I have owned and by far the best pair of boots I have ever owned. I have worn my last pair for 3 years 24/7! I actually have a hole in the right boot about the size of a half dollar. Guess what? When I submerge it in water, it's still water proof, no wet feet! How much better can you get? It will be a sad day when they are discontinued.

I love my Montrail Torre GTXs. I have a hard time finding shoes that I am able to wear with my custom orthotics. I went with the 11 wide which gives me everything I require: sufficient room in the toe box, good arch support, a snug supportive fit around the mid foot and ankle, and a snug fit in the heel cup without slippage. They work just right on the typical rocks, roots and ruts of Maine. I even bought a second pair for backup. Happy hiking.

I found a pair of these in a discount store for a cheap price. I put them on and so far, it has been the best money I have ever spent. It is a great fit in the toe and heel and great cushion for walking no matter the terrain.

I have wide, square feet with Morton's foot (second toe longer than big toe). I bought these when I figured out that my Asolo GTX boots were never going to work out because of the curved last, which made my outer toes into burger on long hikes, despite the boot being the right length overall. The Montrails are on a straight last, and fit much better. I have about 300 miles of hiking on these now carrying light to moderate loads (about 25 lbs), and am happy with them. They broke in easily with no heel blisters, and though they feel slightly soft when walking on side-slopes, I have had no ankle twisting injuries with them and I have to conclude that they are stable. Traction is excellent. I have had these on rough terrain most of the time, including quite a bit of sharp granitic rock, and they combine traction with good sole durability. Waterproofing is fair. A few puddles or a quick stream crossing is no problem, but in sustained heavy rain and puddles, they get soaked. I suppose anything would. Overall, the best boot I have found after several tries with other brands. I will buy another pair if they are available when these wear out.

Be wary. These are definitely comfortable and good looking shoes, but unless you are using them just for casual wear they will not hold up. I've only had them for about six weeks and the sole is coming apart (tread is de-laminating). If you're looking for a trail shoe that will last I would not recommend this shoe. I have had much better success with Asics and Salomon shoes.

These sneaks are so comfortable. I bought and use them for trail running, but I would like another pair for messing around in. They are proving to be an excellent trail shoe: no hot spots, good forefoot protection against rocky trails and a fairly low profile. Unfortunately, they appear to be out of my size 12.5 (hint hint).

I couldn't decided between these Montrails and the North Face Prophecy. I ordered both and from the minute I tried it on, the Montrail was the clear winner. So comfy! Now for the rough stuff. I wore them on a very difficult 7.5 mile trail (one way) to the summit of one of the highest peaks in my state. They performed beautifully. I'm so thrilled with these shoes I want to tell everyone! No blisters, no pain, after over 14 miles of hiking (including running down the trail). Seriously, if you need a trail shoe, these are the real deal. And Zappos rocks!

Great fitting shoe, no heel slip, very stable and grippy on both wet and dry rock. Downside: after only 2 weeks and 2 hikes, big parts of the soles are coming off. I'm calling Montrail on Monday.

I ordered an 11, I usually wear a 10.5. Good choice, the fit was nice, but the toebox/forefoot does not have as much cushion. The heel and arch support were perfect. I added my orthotics to see if it would help and it actually took away some of the support from the heel and arch. I hope if Montrail upgrades this version, they add some more cushioning to the forefoot of the shoe.

Bought these in a Women's 7.5 wide to replace the second pair of Lowa Renegade GTX's that I wore out (before that I wore Vasque boots). Right out of the box, the Montrails are not as comfortable as the Lowas were, although they're not bad. The Montrails are a little heavier, and they tend to give me a sore, bruised-feeling spot in the ball of one foot after a few miles. No problems with blisters, but I'm using these only for day hikes, not real treks, and am very careful to always wear the best hiking socks I can find, thick and made out of wicking yarns like wool or Thorlo, not cotton. The treads on these boots seem to have fairly good traction. I have a wide forefoot and normal-to-narrow heel; the heel fits me well, but the forefoot doesn't feel much wider than a standard-width boot. Can't comment on durability yet since I've only done about 30 miles in them so far (FYI, I got about 700 miles out of each pair of Lowas). All in all, I'd probably go for the Lowas next time, or might try a pair of Asolos.

Great arch support, especially for flip flops. I bought one pair to wear as slippers in the house because I have had plantar fasciitis so walking bare foot on hard surfaces isn't recommended. The strap between the toes dug in on one side until I wore them more. I definitely recommend heating them up and molding them to your feet. They are definitely not as "cute" as other flip flops, but to me they just look "sportier", which I don't mind. I ended up buying another pair because they were so comfortable!
