Great shoe -
This shoe is exactly what I was looking for! I'm an athletic trainer for a high school and I have to stand out in the cold and rain during soccer and football games. These shoes keep my feet warm and very dry. They are also very comfortable, look nice, and are very easy to keep clean. I also tried these shoes out on the trail and found they have excellent traction. The only complaint I have is that the tongue looks a little bulky once you have the lace system tucked up into the tongue flap. The shoes look great with pants but may look a little funny with shorts.

This is the IT shoe!
Well, I have not traveled the planet or walked on the cobblestone streets of Rome in this pair, but I can tell you, this is the "IT" shoe! Being a size 9 and having high arches, I have finally found the walking, hiking, running shoe of my dreams (no kidding). These shoes are not bulky (making your feet look akwardly large), have plenty of room in the toe box, and have wonderful arch support. As others have stated, there is no "breaking in" needed. They have been the most comfortable shoes I have ever had. I have not seen any reviews on running in them, so let me tell you they were superb! I got them for cold weather running because I was tired of not being able to feel my numb, frozen toes when running in 32 degree temps. They were more comfortable than my expensive running shoe. I ordered the red pair and have vowed to order the green pair in the near future. I AM THRILLED. By the way, do order a half size down. Once your foot is good and "seated" in the shoe, you will understand.

Perfect wet weather hiker -
I discovered the Solomon line of shoes a couple of years ago and have never looked back. The fit is great for me, light weight and I like the ease of the pull cord to tighten. This GORE-TEX shoe is perfect for wet weather without having to wear a boot. I'm a 7 1/2 and shoe fits fine with athletic sock. Highly recommend.

Warm, dry, comfy -
These shoes are water-resistant and quite warm. Great traction, but it's hard to clean between the treads.

I ordered a 7 1/2 and had to return them for a half size smaller. The 7 1/2 were way too big. I like the fact that they are wide, but the 7 fit a lot better. Sturdy shoes. Thought I wouldn't like the pull laces, but LOVE THEM NOW. Wish all shoes had them. I've been running and hiking with them. They do need to be broken in. They look sharp, too.

I love this shoe- however, if I had really read the review I would have asked more questions about the Gore-Tex- makes my feet get hot- but is nice now that it is getting cooler.

Love these shoes!
I bought these on a recommendation from a friend. I was looking for something waterproof to wear while walking my dog/hiking. The shoes are comfy and so far are mostly waterproof. After walking through dewy grass for almost an hour, the toe area does get a bit damp... but it's not bad and overall I really like them.

Salomon XA comp 3 - love the look -
I have no foot problems and found these to be light and comfortable for walking. No breaking in period - fabulous! I wear an 8AA shoe so these are a bit wide in the heel so I'm using heel liners. Plenty of room in the toe box. The padding on the tongue of the shoe is thin and the laces are very thin. When I tighten the laces, it caused uncomfortable pressure on the top part of my foot. I now put a folded-up tissue under the tongue and no pain. Overall I really like these shoes.

Walking shoes -
These are the most comfortable shoes I have ever walked in. And what I really like is they are cruelty free--no animal had to suffer. The last pair of walking shoes I bought (very nice ones) rubbed a blood blister on my heel, but the Salomons are almost like wearing no shoes at all. I got the blue ones and I gave them three stars for looks because they make my foot look big, but maybe they just fit like they are supposed to. I think next time I might try the green ones. Anyway, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another pair.

Love these shoes!
This is the third pair of these shoes that I've purchased and I love them. I have them in 3 colors. The quick lace system is great and makes them so easy to put on and take off. They are REALLY waterproof, and lightweight. Love them and will probably buy more!

Wonderful shoes -
I bought this shoe a few months ago; these have been the most comfortable hiking shoes I have ever owned. I use them for hiking, they took me to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back, I do a lot of bushwhacking for work and they have been great for that as well. These are my walk everywhere shoe, walking the dog, hiking, you name it. I do not use them as a work boot they would definitely not hold up to that. I have one serious complaint, my shoe lace broke already! These are not normal shoe laces, and a broken one is a major pain in the butt. You can get replacement online. If Salomon doesn't want to use regular shoe laces, then they need to make the ones they do use a whole lot tougher.

Watch the toes!
I love this shoe but wish, wish, wish I had walked down some stairs in them. If I had, I would have realized that I needed a half size larger. :( Also, your feet will get warm and toasty in them so make sure you actually need the Gore-Tex.

No more soggy feet!
Nice shoes... even if it did take a day or so to get them over being stiff. I did order a 10.5 first and had to send those back and get a 10. Just ordered my second pair of the same. The first didn't last too long in the barn with the crazy foal that that stepped on the top of my arch and spun around on it and snapped the lace... oh well still comfy for barn work even without the lace on one shoe. Even though there are holes in the green outer layer the shoes are still waterproof even if they are ugly now. Good traction for actual running... even in deep sand. My half chaps fit over them nicely so I'll probably use my new ones for endurance riding once my old Asics finally bite the dust.

The Salomon XA Comp 3 GTX is everything I hoped it would be, maybe more. It's light, comfortable, flexible and supportive. The padding around the ankle is very good (I have trouble with shoes rubbing there). I bought them right before a trip with lots of light hiking and loved them with no break in at all. Traction was excellent on everything I tried, rock, sand, gravel, dirt, grass, motorcycle pegs...The quick lacing system and fun color are icing on the cake.

Very comfortable shoes! Ordered my regular size, rather than going up a half size like I normally do for athletic shoes and they fit well. I have narrow heels and they are sort of big in that area, but not overly so (a thicker pair of socks should do the trick). Love the shoelaces which are easy to adjust and just plain fun. The shoes are well made and look like they'll hold up for a long time - I'm very pleased. On an added note - they really do keep your feet dry! Thanks Zappos for the speedy delivery!!!

Love these! Can pull off a fashion statement in summer frocks while keeping feet in true luxury! Wore these to a party last weekend with a Lily dress on a rainy day! (I'm talking New England and Canada summer days: warm and water tight--not for sultry south, Lily-compatible or not!)

First time buyer from Zappos-- What a great experience! The product was shipped sooner than expected!
Love the Salomon XA--Very, very comfortable, love the color - but would order a 1/2 size down as suggested by other customer. Got a lot of compliments on the shoe. Can't wait to try the shoes out hiking. The price is more than I would spend on myself, but my kids convinced me it was worth it!!! Smart kids!!!

Easy to throw on -
These shoes are comfortable and easy to throw on for anything. I mainly use for dog walking and just around the house activities. Great support and the lacing system is the best. This is my third pair.

I Love These Shoes -
These shoes are the most comfortable athletic shoes that I've ever worn. I bought them for every day wear and when I wore them out for a day of running errands my feet didn't ache at the end of the day like they usually do. I ordered the same size that I get in other types of shoes and they fit perfectly. Unlike traditional shoe laces, these do not hurt at the arch and you never have to worry about them coming untied. When I wear these shoes I feel like I'm walking on air and I love the bright green color.

Comfortable shoes for walking and running and waterproof and very sturdy. They run a little big. I usually wear size 9-9.5 and the size 9 is plenty roomy. It's possible I could even go down to an 8.5. I'm not sure that the unconventional lace is an advantage. I think that regular tie laces allow a more customized fit. Still, I'm happy with these shoes and I think they'll be great for all sorts of activities in any kind of weather.

I love this shoe. It's very sturdy and supportive. It did need a little wearing in because they felt a little stiff, but after the first day or so, they fit great and feel great when I'm wearing them for long periods of time.

Lots of Toe room for runners!
This shoe hugs my foot perfectly, holding your heel and ankle in their proper place in the shoe, leaving lots of toe room up front. They make running downhill and cycling extremely comfortable. Great cushioning, too. The red color is much more Redskins-burgundy than the photo suggests - I thought I was getting a truer red. But they are slenderizing and don't look like clown shoes, which make it really attractive to wear.

I bought the similar XA Comp 3 last summer and loved it for warm weather hikes and trail runs. I have long, narrow feet (10.5 Narrow) and the XA Comp fit in a 10 with room in the toe to spare. The lacing system allows this shoe to adjust to accommodate a variety of foot widths. This shoe did not run as long as the XA Comp and I had to exchange the 10 for a 10.5. Still, that's long, since I usually wear an 11 in running shoes. The Gore-Tex should come in handy for damp spring runs!

Great shoe!!
I love this shoe! I get comments on them all the time. Everyone loves the green color. I teach classes at a gym and I lead a Nordic walking group, they offer both the comfort and support I need. They aren't good on an aerobic floor but they aren't really made for that purpose.

Great trail shoe -
This is a great trail shoe. I usually walk or run rocky limestone trails. My footing feels very secure and this shoe is very stable. My half orthotics fit well. I really like the lacing system as it is quick to adjust and secure. The tongue pocket keeps the excess neatly stowed. The shoes are definitely waterproof as I have splashed through small streams and walked through dew soaked grass and my feet have been bone dry. I'd buy this shoe again.
