I bought these in January 2009 after my last pair of Vasque shoes had pretty much no traction left after about 3 years of moderate use. The body of the shoe was still intact. I love the idea of the quick-lace on a normal shoe, so I bought another pair of Vasque, these, at a local shop. By April, the black ribbing on the sides had all but pulled all the way off. It's glued on, and not very well. By August there were holes in the top fabric of the shoes up by the toes, and the sole is coming off at the heel. This is on both shoes. So now at the beginning of November I've had to throw them away as they are completely unwearable anymore. Definitely not the quality I was expecting; I didn't even wear these as hard as I wore my other pair (which had been through mountains in New Zealand, through backpacking trips, and countless other treks). Very disappointed. I'm not sure if I can give Vasque another shot at the moment.

Sadly, the same review as the others. The soles also came unglued and "bubbled". Very annoying as they are loud, especially when it's wet out and water gets into the sole. They are also falling apart at the stitches as well. I've had them less than a year and use them mostly for city and trail walking. Poor quality.

I love these boots. My wide foot is hard to fit, and climbing boots have to be just right. I find I wear them for every day use in cool and wet weather as well as for hiking. After a short period of adjusting to my instep, they are now just perfect.

Shoe has a nice look, but looks can be deceiving. Vibram missed on this outsole, very hard, lug pattern not very practical for a hiking shoe. Forefoot could use a bit cushioning, excessive room around heel made the shoe feel unstable. Feels a size too big. If this shoe gets wet it takes days to dry. Laces too fat makes them hard to tie and stay tied unless you pull a hard double knot. I'll stick with synthetic trail runners for hiking, lighter, better lug orientation and they start to dry while in use. Better luck next time Vasque!

I heeded the recommendation to order one size up and was glad I did. The boots fit nicely and I have just enough extra room so I can use heavier socks during the winter. I might add that the boots are great for biking as they grip pedals rather nicely.

I am currently on my fifth pair of this style Vasque boot. Bought my first pair in '97 for a trip to England. Walked all over the UK for "break-in" and enjoyed terrific support and comfort. Since then the manufacture of these boots has moved. Not to worry! Vasque has maintained the original spec and my latest purchase is as satisfying as all the others. These boots are a pleasure to own, they're stout and long lasting.

I have a weird arch length and must test hiking boots in person since the shoes often fit right but feel wrong. I went through a dozen at the local REI before I found these and immediately fell in love. They felt incredibly comfortable from the start, no break-in time at all! I'll definitely be buying them again (but from Zappos next time since I know they fit!). The flip side of this is that the shoe may feel awkward to people with different arch lengths. I think this is what happened with another reviewer. It's nothing wrong with the shoes, it's just something that you have to keep in mind with athletic shoes.

I bought my last pair of Vasques about 15 years ago. They served me well, but age brings spreading feet and a new pair was called for. The shoe size appears correct for my foot size. Preliminary results indicate a comfortable fit with no pinch points. I wore them for about 2 hours around the house before committing to keep them. I then wore them for 22 hours straight on a trip to Europe with no discomfort. Next up, a mountain adventure!

Very nice looking hiking boot although a little greener than I had hoped. This boot runs very small and is wider than most Vasque. I am a size 8 and usually size up to 8.5 for boots and running shoes but the 8.5 was way too small...not even close. I might even need a 9.5 but then it will probably be too wide. Would be a good boot for the right foot.

I have a pair of these though mine are a slightly different color. I picked them out of quite a few boot candidates because they fit my feet wonderfully and were very comfortable from day one. They required a bit of break-in like any leather boot, but much less than some. I backpacked part of the AT (the Hundred Mile Wilderness) with them when they were just broken in, and was very happy with their performance. They were very supportive and made me feel invincible on the trail. They had incredible grip on rocks and packed dirt, and decent grip in mud when new. The waterproofing was also truly exceptional. You can stand in 3" of water with them for an hour and not get a drop in the boots. However, I was much less impressed with their long-term durability. I've had these boots for about 2 and a half years now, and they are literally falling apart. The right outsole has delaminated, and is peeling back clear to the ball of the foot. I've also had several seams burst, and the rubber toe guard is also peeling severely. Needless to say, they are no longer waterproof nor are they fit do really even wear let alone hike in. Granted, I'm absolute murder on boots, and I suppose I could have taken better care of them (though I did keep them fairly clean and oiled regularly), but I just see no excuse for quality boots to come apart to this extent in that amount of time, particularly the sole coming loose. The rubber toe guard is great except it is not protecting leather. There is some sort of stiff fabric material underneath the rubber, not leather! That means there is a seam clear around the toe, and the toe is made of some sort of mystery material! Bad design. Guess what? Now that the rubber is peeling, that seam has burst badly on both boots. Overall, I'd say this would be an excellent, very comfortable, capable boot for someone who will only use them for the occasional hike or bit of backpacking, but if you live outdoors like I do and run your body like a rental, you will tear these up. I think they are a fair value, but just not as tough as they should be for extended demanding offroad use. I'll give 'em four stars overall because I'm probably harder on boots than the vast majority of people, and they really were fantastic until they started falling apart.

Heel will bubble / come loose in center for these shoes with little use. Otherwise a great shoe, but this is a very big blunder on the part of Vasque. I have read this same issue over and over and I have had the same experience.

I love my Voltas! I am very tough on shoes and they are holding up beautifully! I live in the mountains and have worn them often for months in all kinds of weather, and they have been waterproof and very comfortable. I have to use arch inserts because I have a high instep, but they fit nicely into them. Wouldn't give them up for anything!

Seem a bit larger than expected, and I've noticed an odd "clumping" sound when I walk; no sneaking up on anyone! Not my Favorite Vasques, and I've had many. Not enough cushioning.

I love these sneakers. I have had two foot surgeries that have left the sole of my foot somewhat sensitive. These sneakers have this special sole that is stronger than a regular sneaker. It protects my foot when I walk on rough surfaces. I am a field hockey coach, so this is very helpful on natural fields. Plus these sneakers are very light in weight.

delivery service from zappos, of course, terrific. These boots are the third from Vasque I buy in a row. They are almost exclusively what I wear troughout the week. I work on my feet all the time and these boots give me the support and protection I need while looking great with a variety of other clothes conbinations. I love them.

I was sold on these from the moment I saw them. I will say that I found these to have a little less cushion than the Vasque Breeze Low that i\'d owned previously. Otherwise I\'ve been very happy with them. I would say that they fit pretty much like the Breeze Low. Great for hiking, but you might try another Vasque if you will be using them for an everyday crossover as well. But overall i\'ve been very happy with them.

Outside toughness needs a plusher interior. Vasque is a classic bootmaker who with this design is stretching into some uncharted territory, and it feels like it. What they need to do is steal a Nike or New Balance designer for the interior of the shoe. I need the toughness on the outside (which NB and Nike are hit and miss with) with a much more comfortable inside, especially at this price! No returns on this one after a premier, hard, rocky and long hike. So disappointed and the reason for the rating. Hopefully with more wear, my feet will adjust, arg!

This is the second pair of Vasque footwear I have bought in the past year that does not fit right. I have never had a pair of 12 Regular boots or shoes not fit. Until now. And twice. I would reconsider buying anything made by Vasque and start looking elsewhere for outdoors footwear.

I have trouble finding any footwear that doesn\'t hurt my feet (I had a major foot injury years ago) but I love these boots! They breath and are very comfortable. They give me the ankle and arch support I need and there\'s room for an extra insole.\r\nThanks Zappos. You are my only shoe store!

These are very cute looking and comfortable. They are lightweight, supportive, breathable, and required no breaking in at all. I was not familiar with the brand, but took a chance and ordered my usual size. I have wide feet and did find that after a 5 hour hike, they seemed a wee bit long and narrow for my foot. But there is plenty of room at the toe, importantly.

I'd hoped these would be a little more brown, but they are indeed quite olive (capers) in color. The lacing system is quite ingenious and they are quite comfortable and light. I usually wear a 9 and these 9's were a little snug around my little toe, so I'd probably go up a 1/2 size.

I had a pair of these boots for 15 years and just bought a new pair from Zappos. The Sundowner is the gold standard of hiking boots. I did notice some differences from my old pair. They make these boots in a different location now and they don't look handstitched anymore. They look a little cheaper but they still feel as comfortable.
